Element Shaved Ice Creamery

Cool Dessert Spot on California Street

Three young entrepreneurs jumped into a local business in August 2022 and have grown it into the Uptown hot spot for delicious treats. Karlie Cabral and Armando Juan had recently moved to Yucaipa when Cabral noticed a for sale sign on the Element Shaved Creamery shop on California Street. At the time, Karlie was on maternity leave from her job at the post office and was open to another life altering development.

But first Cabral and Juan had to try this unique dessert. Element’s creations are thinly shaved flavored ice with lavish toppings that makes a soft, fluffy, and tasty treat. They had never had anything like it, so a visit to the shop was planned. Juan said, “We tried it and it was really unique. We really liked it.”

Convincing a friend, Luis Castro, to partner with them was the next step. After that, it was smooth sailing for the three partners. Cabral said, “We inquired and met with the owners. Everything kind of fell into place.”

Cabral is the face of the business, usually seen behind the counter and chatting neighborly with customers at their sidewalk tables. Juan and Castro focus on creating new products behind the scenes before going off to their day jobs. Adding to customer favorites like Strawberry Cheesecake and Lemon Bar, Juan created Strawberry Lemonade, a lemon snow with strawberry sauce garnished with fresh sliced strawberries.

Castro contributed a Spring and Fall favorite, Sour Green Apple, green apple snow with caramel sauce and whipped cream. Even Cabral jumped into the culinary competition, creating Mango Sunrise, a powdery sweet mango snow with chamoy, tajin, chili candies, and diced strawberries. No matter which flavor a customer chooses, Element Shaved Creamery provides a sensory rush, a beautiful presentation, soft, creamy texture, and rich flavors to be relished with every bite. It has the decadence of ice cream but without the guilty calories.
