Shelly and Darren Jenkins started working together in 2010 at a mortgage banker in San Bernardino. Shelly started working in the banking industry after graduating from Yucaipa High School and came to love the work. She said, “When I got my first job in the mortgage business, I became a sponge and just wanted to learn everything I could.” She worked her way up the corporate ladder learning all aspects of the mortgage lending business from operations to underwriting and sales. Her husband said about her, “If there’s a way to get it done, Shelly will get it done.”
Darren graduated from UCR in 1990 with a degree in business administration and was immediately invited into the mortgage business owned and operated by a family friend. Always goal oriented, Darren envisioned himself as a part of a business owned by people who were successful.
The couple started their own business in 2019, wanting to offer more personalized services to local residents. At first, they worked out of an office, but Darren realized, “The overhead expenses didn’t make sense. Working from our home, we are able to pass along our savings to our clients. We can provide a service with rates better than the average mortgage fees and also make a good life for ourselves.”
Being an independent brokerage firm means that lenders are competing for their business resulting in better, lower cost loans, lower closing costs and lower payments for clients. Shelly said, “It’s rewarding knowing you are helping people realize their dreams and accomplishing something they thought them might never have.”

Darren stated that the most difficult part of their business is marketing and working with clients who do not qualify for a home loan.
